Level B1.2
Duration: 32 weeks

  • Vocabulary – recycling and testing of the new vocabulary is the key characteristic of this course. Special attention is paid to the vocabulary tested in this exam. The students are constantly encouraged to use the new words while speaking and/or writing.
  • Grammar– the already acquired knowledge of grammar is enlarged and deepened, and the students are motivated to derive and complete their own grammar rules. The grammar knowledge is mainly used to fit the format of the examination.
  • Reading – coping with a wide range of different reading materials (various signs, notices and announcements seen in the streets, texts on different packages, brochures, city guides, instructions on how to do something, informal letters, articles in newspapers and magazines, weather forecasts). The tasks vary from reading for specific information to grasping the main ideas and meaning of the text.
  • Writing – coping with the format of writing an informal letter.
  • Listening– the students are exposed to listen to different sources of English by one or more speakers in order to understand the meaning and complete the given task.
  • Speaking – students practise pair work and group work which helps them build up their general communicative skills and develop their speech.

Goals and Outcomes
The students should be able to upgrade their general knowledge of the language competence for this level (B1), which comprises all language skills. Thus, the students are completely skilled to cope with the format of all three papers of the Cambridge English Preliminary.
